Brunello's: high marks for food, ambience, service

Original post made on Jul 16, 2009

Restaurant review: When I am handed a menu with a long list of entrees, I get nervous. A short menu offers hope that the chef has mastered each of the dishes. Brunello's, the new Menlo Park restaurant, appears to be living up to that hope.
  • Brunello Ristorante Italiano is at 651-H Maloney Lane, near Oak Grove Avenue, in Menlo Park. Call 328-2778.

invited a group of 13 to dinner last night at Brunello's - Two thumbs up! The staff was flexible, attentive and welcoming. The food was wonderful: antipasto was fresh and offered a variety of treats, the ravioli was filled with spinach and ricotta, cooked perfectly and presented brautifully. We chose the salmon alla Griglia and the pollo alla sarda. My chicken was savory - with a lovely backround blend of herbs (and the mushrooms pickecd up those flavors beautifully).
All was topped off by homemade tiramisu - not just a sliver! - which was the perfect finish. Wine selected by the owner was a great choice. I will be back!

A great place for a quality plate of pasta, ambience and good banter all at a reasonable price. The specials are usually the way to go but the chef will usually customize the sauces to accomodate your taste.
