A man ran into the side of a moving Caltrain at the Menlo Park station this evening, a Caltrain spokeswoman said.
He was taken to Stanford Medical Center and is expected to survive, spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
According to Dunn, he deliberately ran into the side of the second car of southbound train #382 around 6:50 p.m. from the platform.
Around 7:30 p.m., trains began operating again but on a
single-track system. As of 8 p.m., trains in both directions were delayed about 30 minutes.
On Tuesday night, a 17-year-old girl from Gunn High School was fatally struck by a northbound train at the East Meadow Drive crossing in Palo Alto, an incident that appeared to be intentional, Dunn said.
On May 5, a 17-year-old boy, also a Gunn student, was struck and killed by a Caltrain at the same crossing, and messages from school officials indicated his death was also a suicide.
