I'm amazed at how little parent consultation was done about the 4/5 Corte Madera plan. It seems to have been driven by a small group of parents, with very little wider community involvement. The idea of having 9 year olds (or even their parents) try to pick an area of academic concentration is absurd. High schools don't do it and even Universities discourage undergraduates to do it until their Junior year. Shouldn't we be encouraging our 9 & 10 year olds to have the broadest general Liberal Arts education instead of pigeon holing them at such a young age?
