Free Senior Peer Counseling Available for Peninsula Residents Age 55+

Original post made by Katherine Chouteau, another community, on Dec 8, 2008

Family Service Agency of San Mateo County is on the lookout for older adults age 55+ to utilize its free senior peer counseling services available for county residents. The search for new clients comes as the nonprofit prepares to graduate eight new peer counselors from its training program.

Family Service’s Senior Peer Counseling Program aims to assist older adults who are experiencing mental health issues such as loneliness, isolation, grief and depression. Counseling is offered in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, and to the LGBT community. To qualify for free counseling via the program, older adults must reside in San Mateo County and be 55 years or older.

Anyone interested in receiving free senior peer counseling may register by calling Geri Lustenberg, 650-403-4300, x4389, or emailing glustenberg@fssm.org.
