Portola Valley woman shot by intruder

Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office are searching for a "very tall" man of unknown race in black clothing who reportedly shot a Portola Valley woman in the upper arm with a handgun after entering her house in the 100 block of Goya Road at about 2:40 p.m. today.

This was apparently a false alarm/false police report. A gun was discharged and a woman did get shot, but there was no intruder or robbery. Not clear what the story really is. Here's the CBS update
