Guest opinion: Free speech protected in council chambers

The city of Menlo Park made the right decision by allowing the Christian Science Church to hold a lecture in its council chambers for two reasons.

Thank you, Mr. Conlon, for clarifying this legal issue for the Almanac's readers. I too am glad that the city of Menlo Park made the right decision in allowing your church to hold its lecture. I hope that the resolution of this issue leads to a better understanding and a better respect for the rights of all of our citizens.
Thanks also to the Almanac for publishing Mr. Conlon's letter as well as your own great editorial on this matter.

The city's current policy is the only policy that is truly fair and tolerant. We shouldn't cater to those who have unreasonable fears (or other agendas) which drive them to discriminate against those who's religious views or speech they don't like. Kudos to the city of Menlo Park, for their open policy. Lets work to keep it that way.
