Local Boy Scouts collect a ton of food

Original post made by Phil McHale, Menlo Park: Suburban Park/Lorelei Manor/Flood Park Triangle, on Nov 27, 2007

Menlo Atherton Boy Scout Troop 206 collected over a ton of food for the needy in the annual pre-Thanksgiving Scouting for Food drive. Scouts distributed door hangers in the Flood Park Triangle neighborhood and returned a week later to pick up donated food items, which were then taken to the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Carlos for distribution to the needy. Other Boy Scout Troops were active, too, and between them collected over ten tons of food.

Shown in the picture are Scout Noah Kawasaki and Eagle Scout Alex Barker of Troop 206 unloading food at the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Phil McHale of Menlo Park is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 206.
