Alpine Mountain Lions Win Bracket Place 2nd Overall in Labor Day Tourney

The Portola Valley Alpine FC Mountain Lions boys under 14 soccer team won their bracket and placed second overall in the Napa Valley Wine Country Classic soccer tournament over Labor Day Weekend. Undefeated, with a total score of 29 points out of a possible 30, the boys U14 team, led by coach Ross Ireland, placed first in their bracket qualifying them for the championship game Sunday afternoon against the Rocklin Knights. With the temperature at game time exceeding 100 degrees the boys lost a hard fought battle to the Knights by a score of 5-2. In their first pre-season tournament, the team had a fantastic showing. Regular season games begin September 9th.
