Once upon a time, there was a man and his family and they came upon a land of verdant hills, tumbling streams and lush forests. They said, no one lives here and it is beautiful. We will live here. And so they built their home and settled. Since we humans are a social species, they invited their friends to join them. And, they did. And then, their friends invited their friends and they too, came and settled. And then their friends came, and so on.
Soon, people came that did not want to settle there, but wished to build homes and buildings for others as a way to make money. And, they did. And there were none to stop them. And, eventually, this paradise became a village, then a town, then a crowded city, and then suffered from too much of everything that is not good for people where they live. And, eventually, those who were rich moved away, but those who were poor could not.
The moral of this story comes in the form of a question:
Menlo Park, when is enough, enough?
