I'm curious as to the cost of Red Wine as an over the counter suppliment versus what it would cost to take prescription drugs for heart disease. There must be an average cost per ounce of Red Wine for 10 oz / day compared to the daily dose of pills. I prefer the wine, but if I have to use it to wash down a pill, then so be it.

I'd rather give my hard-earned cash to Fetzer, not Pfizer. The side effects of a good zin or pinot noir are far more pleasurable, and you can't share those FDA-approved (gulp) pills with friends. Salute...

Beltramo's has a terrific red that's amazingly cheap -- only a few bucks more than Two Buck UpChuck. It's a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo called Quattro Mani, and some months ago the SFChron listed it as the best of all the wines included on its "best 50 wines -- $10 or less." And at $7, it was one of the cheapest of the 50. My hat's off to Fetzer, but my budget forces me to find cheaper means for keeping my heart healthy (and warm).
