As a child, we lived only a few blocks away from Allied Arts. I still own a Christmas ornament bought for me by a caring stranger at the Christmas shop. My best friend's mother volunteered her cooking skills for years and years. It breaks my heart to hear that this beautiful treasure is being mis-managed into the ground. Logically, one knows that nothing lasts forever, but there's something so terrible about the thought that there may not be another year for the Christmas shop, or the wonderful treats one could have for tea. It's as if a corner of the world is crumbling. Can someone not step in to do something? Why does money have to be the one and only yardstick we use to measure worth?
