Best neighborhood Japanese spot

Original post made by Ichiban, Menlo Park: Downtown, on Nov 20, 2006

It's not the fanciest Japanese restaurant in Menlo Park, and certainly not the priciest, but Tokyo Subway is my favorite neighborhood hangout, for those nights when you can't face cooking and just want a big ol' bowl of soba noodles. The fried tofu (age dashi tofu) is sublime.

Avoid the teriaki salmon, as it's usually overcooked.

I just wish the gyoza was as good as the noodles. If anyone knows where to get really good gyoza (Japanese potstickers), please share.

Higuma in Redwood City is the BOMB for Goyza--- cheap and fresh too!

LOVE supporting menlo park, but have to head up the road for this.

Thanks for the tip! Where is Higuma located?

PS I don't supposed they have onigiri and age-dashi tofu, too? I love that stuff!
