Demonstration of new e-voting machines

Original post made by Good neighbor, another community, on Oct 4, 2006

The San Mateo County Elections Office is giving demonstrations of the new eSlate electronic voting systems at community venues.
A Menlo Park demonstration is set from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Crane Place, 1331 Crane St.
In the Nov. 7 election, voters will have the option of voting an electronic or a paper ballot. While the county is converting to electronic voting, most voters will vote a paper ballot this November, election officials said.
Next year, in a series of smaller local elections, electronic voting will be fully introduced, they said chief elections official Warren Slocum.
To schedule a demonstration for your community group, go online to the eSlate Learning Center -- http://www.shapethefuture.org -- or e-mail vote2006@smcare.org, or call Jackie Coates at (650) 363-1884.
