Angela Swartz joined The Almanac in 2018. She reports on youth and education, and the towns of Atherton, Portola Valley and Woodside. Angela, who grew up in San Mateo, previously reported for the Silicon Valley Business Journal and San Mateo Daily Journal. She holds a master's degree in investigative reporting from American University. She interned at The Washington Post while completing her master's. She also holds a bachelor's degree in U.S. history and Spanish from University of California, Davis.

Atherton considers license plate readers as burglaries continue
In response to a rash of residential burglaries that have plagued the town since November, Atherton staff will study the impacts of installing license plate readers and security cameras around town to "detect, solve, prevent and deter" crime.
