Thank you for shedding light on this very important issue for the Ladera community. I want to point out that the title of the article is slightly misleading. The Woodland school campus is defined to be the school buildings and the gym. The play areas and field are not leased to Woodland and are not part of their “campus”. Instead, Woodland has a license to use the play areas and field exclusively during school hours. The play areas and field are intended to be available to the public after school hours and not to be exclusively used by Woodland. The Ladera community is asking the Las Lomitas School Board to:

-Amend its lease with Woodland to open Ladera Play Areas (but not the areas leased to Woodland) to all members of the public beginning at 3:30 p.m. on weekdays aligning public use for this public land with the other LLESD properties, including the fields and play areas at La Entrada and Las Lomitas.

-Amend Woodland’s lease to prohibit the construction of a parking lot on the Ladera Play Areas.

-Uphold the terms of the existing lease allowing for unrestricted public access to the Play Areas during weekends and public school holidays, including winter, spring, and summer break.
