I would like to encourage people to consider adopting a pet from any of several shelters in the Bay Area. We lost two dogs last year (old age and a local vets misdiagnosis). I went to the San Jose municipal animal shelter. It is heaving with dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, etc. I adopted a 2 year old large male dobie (with lots of training) and a 11 mo old very busy shepherd mix (also with some training). I have room for big busy dogs. But if you want quiet dogs they had older ones and smaller as well. Cages of kittens, Sad older cats looking like life had kicked them. Many pets are free. Not much paperwork or bother. Just animals wanting love and a home. If you have a place in your heart and home, now is the time. The need is great and so many animals don't have much time left
