Boosted by a strong quarter and a personal loan to his own campaign, Assembly member Kevin Mullin has taken a fundraising lead in the closely watched race to replace U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier in District 15, according to new reports.

It makes me sad to see races devolve into news just about the money raised. And it's distressing to think we'll get the rubber stamper Mullin rather than keeping a woman in Jackie Speier's seat.
Thanks to the Democratic Party in San Mateo County we now stand to have all white male representation on the Board of Supervisors AND in Congress. How progressive is our county?
NOT. I personally am stumping for two very qualified local women for office: Virginia Chang Kiraly for Supervisor, and Emily Beach for Congress. They are both long-time public servants, not beholden to special interest, and will raise the level of discussion beyond simply endorsing party politics from Sacramento on down.
