Young Mr. Breya sounds more concerned about himself that the life-long damage he's inflicted on Ms Kuo and her family, While I appreciate the resources offered for alcoholics, why aren't resources offered for Anger Management and the victims of threats like these? He certainly made enough angry violent threats for this to be relevant at a time when too many women and girls suffer from this type of stalking and abuse.
Since Mr, Breya blames his drinking and alcoholism for his repeated threats, what's being done to ensure he's staying off alcohol and to ensure he doesn't threaten other women and public officials? Is making any restitution to Ms. Kuo for her continuing trauma and why didn't the police bother to convey his apology?
There's lots of unanswered questions here, including why he and other stalkers keep getting off with such light sentences and how this is supposed to deter others. We need better, stricter laws to prevent this type of harassment.

Breva says he doesn't think being drunk is an excuse for his behavior. The court doesn't seem to agree; his sentence targets his drinking rather than his behavior toward Ms. Kou. Mr. Breva's drinking is mostly his own problem. Society's problem is that he makes terrorist threats. The rest of us don't know and don't care whether the booze made him do it.

This is more than harassment. Breya threatened death to a public official!. He did so multiple times, referencing her children at one point. Assassination threats are felonies punishable by prison time, for good reason. It is self-evident that officials who have been threatened will be reluctant to serve in public office. Our governance is diminished if we lose good people who are fearful to serve in the public arena, as happens elsewhere in the world. What he did is an attack on our Constitution.
Breya should be in prison for repeatedly threatening assassination. Since he got a slap on the hand, he at least should be banished from the state so the council woman's family members do not live life looking over their shoulder for the next few decades. A few sessions of AA does not recovery make. He is only one town away, on the internet......too close to Lydia. Is he drinking his shame away?
