Why demolish the existing buildings instead of redoing them? They are good buildings. In addition, a new 25-yard (not 25-meter) pool in Belle Haven is important, regardless of whether it is at the Community Center. Forcing a choice between a pool and a basketball facility underscores the flaw in the proposed redevelopment South of Willow Road: it lacks recreation facilities for the population that will be added there.

One reason for the rebuild is that the community over here has been trying for 40 years to get the city to build a library accessible to us, and current community center is the most popular and logical location for it, however the current building has no space to dedicate to a library. Another reason is that the existing facility is getting old.
