Local group rescues hundreds of large animals from wildfires

The wildfires that have forced over 78,000 residents to leave their homes in the Santa Cruz Mountains have also put many horses, cows and other domestic animals at risk. Firefighters on the front lines, who must prioritize human life over everything else, are forced to leave the challenge of getting large animals out of harm's way to someone else. If the animals' owners are unable to evacuate them, the consequences can be tragic.

This brought tears to my eyes. Incredible. I'm sure there's a guaranteed place in heaven for LAEG members.

I've wrestled a generally-willing-but-occasionally-fractious horse into his trailer many times. These were not always my best moments, many neologisms were coined. I can only imagine hard it might be for a unfamiliar handler in a tense situation with smoke blowing around a strange trailer. These volunteers are saints. Thank you all.
