Read below about the drug remdesivir, manufactured by Gilead Sciences of Foster City, California. Gilead Sciences, Inc., is an American biopharmaceutical company that researches, develops and commercializes drugs. The company focuses primarily on antiviral drugs used in the treatment of HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and influenza, including Harvoni and Sovaldi.

Participants treated with remdesivir recovered from the ravages of the COVID-19 virus on average 30 percent quicker than those receiving a placebo. Even Dr. Fauci is talking about it!

Who owns remdesivir, how much can they make, and how much does it cost?
The drug was originally developed for Ebola but has shown promise with COVID-19. Web Link

"Patients treated with remdesivir had a median recovery time of 11 days compared to 15 days for those who received the placebo. Results also suggested a lower death rate among those who received the drug, with a mortality rate of 8% for the group receiving remdesivir versus 11.6% for the placebo group, NIAID said."

So all it does is shorten recovery time (if you are lucky), and insignificantly (!) improves mortality rate.

If I'd presented a drug like that to the FDA in past times, they'd laugh me out of the room.
We are desperate, I guess to go for something that's 1000$ a shot.
But on the upside, it's better than drinking disinfectant.

30% is not insignificant. Not what we're hoping for, but not insignificant. In the US, that would have amounted to 20,000 lives.
