Fetch. Roll Over. Play dead. Any other tricks you’re willing to do to be a good dog for Facebook. Way to steam roll residents, City Counsel.

Yeah, the City Council should totally have turned down a 40 million dollar community center and library for Belle Haven, with no strings attached and no contribution of City money for construction. [Portion removed]
There are always a few haters who hate everything.

A new community center is a nice thing, but why has it become THE top city priority? The city council cannot itself, or city staff, ignore more important issues over the next two years when climate change is becoming a crisis, when the city's planning documents prematurely are reaching their limits, when the largest project in Menlo Park's history (oh yeah, by Facebook) that could change the city forever is going through its reviews, etc.
At the end of the next two years, will the only thing the city accomplishes is a new center when other critical issues go unaddressed? Staff should have to walk and chew gum at the same time. Council - get your priorities straight and demand the staff do the same. How sad if a new center is all that transpires.
