Thirteen vehicle burglaries were reported Saturday at three parking lots on the Stanford University campus, according to university police.

These smash and grab thefts must be treated like the serious crimes they are. The victim suffers lost time from work, rental car expenses, loss of privacy and more. Anyone who thinks the dysfunction that reigns supreme in San Francisco cannot migrate south is fooling themselves. These crimes call for aggressive enforcement, prosecution and punishment.
