Here we go again, another expenditure by the MPFD that is a waste of money. Going through the laughable procedure of approval from the fire district board this will be another shiny toy to play with. Why is it necessary to spend a million dollars on a fire truck that is going to be something less then a first line vehicle? A light duty designation for this vehicle is a ridiculous purchase. I guess this will be the go to vehicle for those shopping trips to Safeway or to parade it down Santa Cruz Ave at the 4th of July parade. Let’s hope that the board shows some guts for once and says NO

As a former FF and public safety employee, this is a bad decision and waste of money. That's a pretty big price tag for a reserve engine / light rescue especially when they keep 4-5 engines in reserve already.
But I guess what Harold [Schapelhouman] wants, Harold gets.....

The Fire Board showed great wisdom passing on this first generation truck for now. They should only be using proven equipment for delivery of emergency services. The time will come when all electric trucks make sense, until then I want to hear the rumble of a Cummins diesel coming down the street responding to my emergency.
