I attended these talks and am active in East Palo Alto which bears the brunt of traffic coming from homes in the east to jobs in the West. Not sure why the Almanac chooses to ig nore the existence of our city.
The Manzanita Talks were a great start in dealing with a situation that's beyond a complicated problem. It's a complex predicament. It's one all of us need to understand as more than just a requirement for more lanes on a freeway. It's the sum of millions of decisions people, rich and poor, make every morning and afternoon. These talks were a good start and the participants came away with a better understanding of the situation and the results of what other communities have tried. Complex means it goes across boundaries and that the siuation changes continually so even good ideas need to be constantly monitored for ways to improve. Our Visit to Contra Costa was a good demo of this concept.
