Activists seeking new oversight of Sheriff's Office

Activists in San Mateo County are seeking greater oversight of the Sheriff's Office and asking the county's Board of Supervisors to create a new citizens' oversight body that would be able to compel records from the sheriff.

When we watch the news, we are reminded that good Democratic governments have a lot of "oversight" built into them. As in Congress has oversight over the President, just for one example. Public companies have financial oversight in the form of audits to protect investors. The list could go on and on.

Somehow, law enforcement has successfully argued for a long time in San Mateo County that these time-honored concepts of oversight should not apply to them. Normally people/groups arguing they don't need supervision would be viewed askance.

Disappointing that the Board of Supervisors continue to perpetuate this hoax. The result is we get less accountability for this critical function. This is not a good result.

Shame on Don Horsley.

San Mateo County Residents need to be competent only in Arithmetic involving the In-Custody Homicide of Chinedu Okobi on October 3, 2018.
There were FOUR Sheriff Deputy's One Sergeant and one Sheriff Employee Civilian CSO .

4 plus 1 = 5 plus 1 = 6 San Mateo County Sheriff Employees

Why does Sheriff Carlos G. Bolanos, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe, the Five Supervisors And County Counsel only talk about FIVE?

Why was Chinedu Okobi Sat Up with his head tilting forward blocking his airways for almost 10 minutes, with No CPR being applied by anyone. None of the Six SMC Employees.

Supervisor Don Horsley should recuse himself from all conversations regarding the Sheriff Office.
