Enrollment dip continues in local schools

So the enrollment at the schools is declining and has been for the past several years. Even Menlo Park School District enrollment is slowly declining. At the same time property tax revenues are up significantly. From the Almanac: "San Mateo County's property assessment roll increased for the 2019-20 fiscal year, the ninth consecutive year of upward movement... Within The Almanac's coverage area, property assessment values rose 10.5% in Menlo Park"

As the Menlo Park School District gets most of its funding from Property Tax and Parcel taxes it means the school district has significantly more money to spend on less students. At the same time they have been getting more and more money from the increasing property tax revenue each year and have less students each year yet they want to add another parcel tax to the ballot so we can continue to give more money. Are they so bad at fiscal management that they can not balance a budget where they keep getting more and more money to spend on the same or less students? They are not passing along the extra revenue to the teachers.

Let me also add that they ask parents for a "donation" of $2000 per student on top of everything else.

Within this board document we get to compensation philosophy, a piece of which reads “Consider compensation increases above what is considered comparable to our neighboring districts, while ensuring the requisite ‘compelling and sustainable value proposition’ for our community.” They go so far as to put “above what is considered comparable” in italics! I’m at a loss for words.

Not so politely put,

Give us our money back.

Maybe it's time to combine some of these school districts. Each one comes with a slew of high priced administrators. Las Lomitas has 2 schools, why does it exist?
