Why is it out of the ordinary not to publicize likely suicides? The Golden Gate Bridge stopped reporting on suicides years ago to discourage copycats and the suicide rate has apparently gone down since then. Obviously, Caltrain has to inform passengers when there is 2 hour delay because of a collision, but if there is no delay, then why publicize something that could encourage copycats?

Although something like over 90% of pedestrian Caltrain deaths are suicides, this one may have been accidental since it is believed he "fell into [the side of] the train." (Reviewing their forward-facing video, Caltrain would be able to determine he wasn't in the path of the train.) It's possible, for example, that he was confused or inebriated ... it was a southbound train, yet the victim was a Redwood City resident, so it wouldn't have been a way for him to get home. Perhaps he was seeing off someone else after a night out and fell into the train. So young. So sad.
