Man sentenced to life in prison for 2011 fatal shooting in Menlo Park

A 45-year-old transient has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a fatal drive-by shooting in Menlo Park in 2011, San Mateo County prosecutors said Monday.

At the time, there were a number of shootings in the neighborhood; it was quite unsettling. My impression at the time was that it was due to gang rivalry; one in Belle Haven, the other in EPA. This guy, however, doesn't seem like a gang member. Was it in any way related? Is he suspected of any of the other shootings? Or was it coincidence?

Do they have any motive?
