Well bravo, Woodside! About time you replaced a code "characterized by inflexible language and a punitive tone". The previous version was so extremely ill-written that a so-called "independent investigator" found that Constitutionally protected speech violated the guidelines. The town's attorney should have been fired for working so hard to use them against a volunteer.

"Constitutionally protected free speech" wasn't the violation. A member of a Town Committee lobbied committee members outside the purview of an open meeting and was openly biased against an applicant's architect.

Pogo, if you’d read the PRA you’d see you have the story backwards. The councilmember had a long and secretive history of undermining the volunteer, even going so far as to say, in an email to a town employee, that he wanted to get rid of her. Her openly stated Email concern about elected officials avoiding “even an appearance of conflict of interest” went unheard when the councilmember in question turned the volunteer’s concern on its head and claimed she was violating the town’s ethics guidelines for saying so! Don’t know what school of political thought you subscribe to, but it obviously doesn’t include open governance.

We both know what was done to the "volunteer" was brought on herself because of her continued misuse of her position with the ARB. Might not have been "cricket", but good riddance. The volunteer was totally out of control and cost residents hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars due to her insertion of her opinion into the architectural review process. I'm sure most anyone doing projects in Woodside are VERY happy she's gone.

To Resident -
Yes, I read the report and my comment and conclusion is 100% consistent with the findings in the report that found the volunteer committed SEVERAL ethics violations. Resident's post referenced the actions of the "volunteer," not the council member.
The investigation found the volunteer's actions were inappropriate and biased. No need to litigate it again.
