New law extends statute of limitations for sexual assault victims

Adult sexual assault victims in California now have up to 10 years to seek civil damages under a new bill signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown on Sunday, a substantial difference from the state's previous three-year window.

Morning all. This is huge. True, that waiting for close to 10 years to file a civil case could make it more difficult. The fact that the statute of limitations has been changed in itself is great news. So many victims of sexual assault may never receive the justice they truly deserve but this is a welcome and great start. This bill is long over due and much needed.
