As much as I search my soul I am unable to find any sympathy for the Daegers folks. When they remodeled or rebuilt their store a number of years ago they knew at some point their loading area would become elusive. Their building plans should have included a new loading area owned by them. Entitlement comes in all shapes and sizes.

Draegers has had 17 years to solve the problem, and the planning for the new building has been progressing for 3 years. This come down to a lack of business acumen, or incompetence.

When they lost the loading dock in 2002 they PROMISED to reduce the number of trucks unloading by consolidating their loads. Did they? apparently not.

They are asking for the right to unload from 7:00am to 9:00pm, really? Perhaps Menlo Park would be better served if the property were put to another use since apparently operating a grocery store efficiently is beyond the business skills of the family. alternatively they could hire someone with Operations and Logistics experience and improve the delivery methods to their multiple are stores.....in either case, asking the City of Menlo Park to solve a problem of their own making is outrageous.
