Monday: Proposal for 6-story office building to face review

Original post made on Mar 23, 2018

A proposed six-story office building, that along with a five-story parking garage is slated to complete a trio of edifices owned by the Sobrato Organization in eastern Menlo Park, will face an early round of public review Monday, March 26.

"Hey, you know what Menlo Park really needs? Another large office building!"

Really - more space for Facebook? We just don't need it. Our City is going to find itself dependent upon Mr Zuckerberg and it will not be a good place. Also, isn't this the Sobrato that pressured EPA to make a fast "take it or leave it" decision to force them to waive their policy that would have required the office tenant of the building near Home Depot to hire a % of the building's employees from the EPA community? Isn't this the same family that bought the land at a bargain price because of the requirement and then after not getting the rent to make the profits they desire pressured the Council to drop the requirement. The residents loose while the developer wins. Sad.

Watch out Palo Alto - they are coming your way...

Perhaps if we held a City Council meeting in one of the office buildings along this corridor on a weeknight at 5pm, the council members would understand the outrageous traffic implications these buildings have had on neighbors. Just getting a child to sports practice a few miles away at Kelly Field or Foundry can take an hour. The last thing our small community with limited infrastructure needs right now is more commuter traffic.

How about making ALL this space available to nonprofits that are priced out of the mid-peninsula?
If not, please make it all housing. We do not need any more office space and more commuters to the part of town that has little transit.

Keep those office parks coming! My property values are soaring. Once we get the gang bangers out this area will sell like West menlo!

How can the MPCC make decisions with NO representation from the EPA community on the council?

They rubber stamp every project for the area east of 101 which has compromised the quality of life for people living there, traveling through the area, while Bayfront Park is barely useable because of traffic alone and maybe overwhelming Facebook use?

Residents who vote in MP must make their voices and votes count, with this project, with the MP Library and the "mini-Menlo-me" growth spurt that Facebook wants.

Biking from Flood Park to Kelly Field (1.1 miles) is a 5 minute ride, even during rush hour. Suburban Park soccer moms don't need to spend to much time sitting in outrageous traffic.
