You have a point about how a wealthy defendant probably would have gone through the system differently (though not sure the end result would have been that different), but the statements above that seem to indicate stabbing was understandable given the circumstances of cheating (and the cheating constituted abuse as defined by the law; I agree it qualifies as emotional abuse) veers way off from the notions of equality. If a wife cheated on her husband, and he stabbed her multiple times, should he get probation working at an abused men's shelter? The comments are ridiculous.
