Menlo Park backs temporary ban on pot businesses

Funny that Mr. Henry would bring up drug dealers since legal, restricted and regulated dispensaries would (and have) put the kind he's obviously referring to (illicit, black market and sometimes cartel-backed) out of business, overnight. Oh, and great job juxtaposing pot with crack, opioids, heroin "or the latest feel-good drug." As if pot is even anywhere close to being as harmful or damaging as those other ones. That statement, alone, tells me that he has bought and is peddling the same "refer madness" propaganda that got us into this mess in the first place.

As an aside, I will be actively campaigning against anyone who votes for this moratorium (which, disappointingly, sounds like it could be everyone on the current Council).

Writer todlo is correct - bringing crack, opioids, and heroin into this discussion about marijuana dispensaries is like bringing up AK-47's in a discussion about cap guns. It's ludicrous, and with all due respect, quite ignorant. It certainly brings no light to the subject.

Furthermore, I was rather amazed that Mr. Henry also brought up the subject of capitalism, by saying, "The end game of all drug dealers – legal or illegal – is for you to buy their product, so they can make some money..." The end game he describes is identical to that of the man who comes to aerate my lawn twice a year, the same as the artists I see at street fairs, likewise the mom and pop who own the corner market - they'd like me to buy their product so they can make some money. In fact, the list of people whose working lives also fit that end game would include, well, darn near all of us. His point is not made.

When I say that Mr. Henry is misinformed and misguided, I do so regarding this topic only. I don't know him, and I'm confident he has his strengths. It is my perception that insight into the subject of the Almanac article under discussion here is not among them, and his argument should be discarded.

As Menlo Park hasn't been coming down on the single family homes exclusively used for growing pot withing City Limits, I really can't take these words at face value.
