Kudos to the Almanac, and especially to Barbara Wood, Renee Batti, Michele Le, and Kate Bradshaw. Bravo to Barbara in particular — it isn’t easy to try to untangle the messy web of local finance in any local California community. But she does it AND presents her findings in a form that we can all digest and discuss. Whether it’s local schools, cities, the fire district or the county, she is always incredibly persistent, sometimes irritatingly even-handed, and occasionally groundbreaking in what she learns and teaches the rest of us. The editors, Richard Hine and Renee Batti, clearly support her and our other great local reporters, who do us and democracy an incredible service.
