We've all seen this movie before: Politicians admonish us, "Support this, we have the money. There will be no future tax increase to pay for this." Inevitably taxes go up in the future. In this case, the parcel tax will continue many years beyond what would otherwise be necessary. At the same time critical road and drainage issues will not be addressed in a timely way because there won't be enough funds. We all know this to be true. Those who fail to heed history are bound to repeat it. There is no free lunch. I encourage Atherton residents to vote NO on A. We need better town facilities, but not on the scale and cost that this Town Council advocates.
