I believe the best defense against crime is creating a strong perception about security. If criminals believe we are doing everything necessary to prevent crime, they will simply avoid PV and go elsewhere. ALPRs, neighborhood watch groups, security cameras, dogs, etc are all excellent deterrents against crime. We need to create the perception that if you commit a crime in Portola Valley, then you will be spotted, cops will be called, and you will be arrested and thrown in jail. Simple. Let outsiders know that PV has ZERO TOLERANCE for crime. Let's join together to prevent these thugs from even stepping foot in our town.

"thugs" again? All about thug life to some folk. No dog whistles, of course.

How about we start without spreading fear or MIS-perceptions about beautiful PV, then work on from there?

Pv is safe-unless you consider being burglarized or robbed as being a completely "safe" experience, them you are mistaken.
