Menlo Park school tax campaign committee faces fine for reporting violations

The committee that backed the Menlo Park City School District's recent parcel tax has agreed to pay a $678 fine for violating campaign donation reporting requirements.

So hopefully the district is being required to report the omitted employer and occupation information for those donors and it will be available as required for public access.

it is not the District, but the campaign committee of parents that didn't quite fill out all the paperwork.

I have been targeted by “anonymous sources” in the past. I am familiar with the process. The Daily Post story reported that the fine was for late filing. I posted a comment on this in the Town Square Forum. We can’t stop individuals from contributing to parcel tax campaigns, but we can identify major contributors in a timely fashion, thanks to the 24 hour “late contribution” filing requirement for contributions over $1,000.
