They are so far over budget and behind schedule that Bullet trains will be last year's technology. Even if the project happens, it will still be bleeding red.

Every industrialized country invests in infrastructure or risks following into decay.

what a monstrous waste of time, money, resources. for what? who is going to ride this boondoggle to nowhere. new jersey had its bridge. California has its speed rail. Reeks of curmudgeonry, and nepotism. Donating contractors will make huge profits at the expense of the masses. Govern Brown is hell-bent on destroying California. We need strong infrastructure--roads are a disaster, dams are a disaster, bridges are a disaster. that is where our hard-earned money (taxes) should go. Not to some "toy train" pipe dream that Governor Brown thinks would fulfill his boyhood fetish. Enough of this non-sense. Fix what needs to be fixed. every day--countless cars with flat tires are seen on the side of the road due to all of the ruts and pot-holes on the freeways and ordinary city streets. Fix what needs to be fixed for all of us to use--not some elitist, useless train to nowhere.

Interesting that you talk about infrastructure. It's amazing to me for how sophisticated CA claims to be but how bad some of its infrastructure is comparatively. Instead of spending billions on a train why not repair the state's transportation infrastructure before financing another project.

Concern trolls say "gosh oh golly, there are so many other infrastructure projects to support" except they never get done, and are fought tooth and nail by the same concern trolls.

Next thing they say is "gosh oh golly, trains are such old technology, let's create something new." The natural next step for these trolls is to shift the discussion to the paper doodlings of bizarre future tech such as hyperloop. Really?!!??

Start here. Start now. Go ahead and raise gas tax to fix the roads too.

I'm so glad that Sacramento raised our gas tax, DMV registration fees, etc. to pay for roadway maintenance. I wonder if that money will actually go to pay for these needed fixes or something else?

I also wonder why we needed to increase the revenue; where have past monies gone and why isn't there money in the existing budget? Maybe if we we're paying for a costly train......

Let's really make CA a tax state!
