The Piggish Truth about Animal Cruelty

Original post made by Christopher Robin, Woodside: other, on Mar 24, 2017

It was a surprise to see Ken White, the president of the Peninsula Humane Society, jump in the Pig Scramble debate and take sides. It is ironic since he and his organization have been accused by 16 of their employees of animal abuse and mistreatment (Web Link These are the people entrusted with maintaining the welfare of animals in our County.

That’s not the worst part- Ken White’s published salary is $476,827.00 as of 2015. The article above claims Mr. White’s salary is even higher, posting $692,000.00. The president of a local non-profit makes more money than the President of the United States? No wonder the animals are not being taken care of, and they are short staffed. The Peninsula Humane Society’s revenue comes from county and city contracts, as well as public donations. These are taxpayers funds that are subsidizing his lifestyle at the expense of the animals. Are you okay with this? Wake up, people….
Although no current law caps the salary of a president of a non-profit company, there’s no question that a salary of $476,827.00 (or more?) is inhumane. It is inhumane to the animals, taxpayers of San Mateo County, and the donors. A lot of animals could receive the care they need if these funds were allowed to reach their intended purpose.

We should demand a reduction of Ken White’s salary and create a pig sanctuary to promote a less stressful environment for the animals.

Don’t take my word- Find and arm yourselves with the truth.

When you face a situation where you can't actually defend the action in question (the Pig Scramble), you attack those who are calling the action in question.

Diversion 1.0 in action, folks.
