Why is the City Council considering spending millions of dollars remodeling or replacing our library instead of allocating funds for more staff? The budget for staff has been cut so much that the library can't even stay open for the longer hours that were so useful to our community in the past. For example, have you ever tried going to the library on a Tuesday morning, or returning books on a holiday?

The *facility* is fine. It may need some minor updates, but the primary value of a library is not the building; it's the library staff. It would be much better to invest in more staff, longer hours, and more events / services / etc.

Taking what we would spend on the bonds for the construction, and instead using it to fund librarians would be a much wiser use of taxpayer money.
