Tara VanDerveer, in her fifth decade of coaching basketball, became the second women's Division I coach, and the third overall, to win 1,000 games when No. 8 Stanford beat visiting USC, 58-42, in front of 4,490 appreciative fans and a television audience Friday night at Maples Pavilion.
