Services held for Aisea Mataele, 14, M-A freshman

Services were held Dec. 28 for Aisea Mataele, 14, a freshman at Menlo-Atherton High School, who died Dec. 20 at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. The community had responded to news of his sudden and mysterious illness last month by donating more than $76,000 in an online effort to help with his medical costs.

Although I didn't know Aisea Mataele personally, in taking to a former teacher who knew him well, he was a truly an exceptional young man. How very sad this loss is. I know many are heartbroken over this tragedy.

Although I didn't know him too well he was a really cool guy I remember on the kindergarten buddy trip to the San Francisco zoo he was happy outgoing and he had lots of friends to be around him we were eating popsicles at the end of the school year and we laughed a lot it deeply saddens me to learn of his passing Rest In Peace Aisea our community salutes you
