Unlike in recent years, where the district's anointed Democrat rolled to a comfortable Election Day victory, this year's Assembly race has split the Democratic establishment into two camps.

Everyday vote for me materials show up in the mail from Berman. In all my years I've never received so many from one candidate for any office. Too much waste. We need someone who will focus on the job and the residents not on the businesses, organizations and people he's beholden to for their support.

The Democratic Party voted on this race three times. Each time, no candidate met the minimum number of votes required for an endorsement.
