I began taking Yoga classes 5 years ago but being a teacher myself, I am pretty picky about who teaches me including not only their expertise and knowledge but also the entire human experience. Having read a lot about Pilates, I was looking for a place which held regular (more than once or twice a week) Mat Pilates classes and I found it at Menlo Pilates and Yoga. At MP&Y, I have taken Pilates classes from Fran, Theresa (Tess), Jen Delaney, Monica, Kathy Klein - all have been great. Pilates is truly the best kept secret for developing core strength, flexibility and maintaining/increasing range of motion which we need more than ever as we age. I also began attending Kettle Bells classes taught by Fran which are not only a great cardiac and gluteal (read: butt) workout but terrific fun. The variety of instructors at MP&Y and their passion for health and a fun but calming time is remarkable. Lily Anne Hillis at 79 years of age teaches the BEST yoga class every Sunday afternoon to a crowd of men and woman of all ages and conditions. The convenience of this Menlo Park location, its instructors and most of all, Fran, will be difficult to reproduce. The closure of MP&Y is a terrible loss for those of us who attend on a regular basis and for Menlo Park.
