I agree with Elizabeth Lewis: Mr. Flint did come to Atherton at a critical juncture for its police department and helped restore credibility to it. I hope the town learns from its past mistakes and finds another qualified outside chief to lead the PD. The department is just too small to promote from within, and the last several attempts to do this did not work out well. Bringing in an outside chief who will hold feet to fires due to no pre-existing relationships will lead to sharper management of this expensive resource for residents. Qualified existing APD personnel would be able to get a promotion track to chief by going to another city.
