Republican, Def. Sec. Robert Gates: Trump "is unqualified and unfit to be commander-in-chief"

Original post made by Secretary of Defense, Menlo Park: Linfield Oaks, on Sep 17, 2016

"... on national security, I believe Mr. Trump is beyond repair. He is stubbornly uninformed about the world and how to lead our country and government, and temperamentally unsuited to lead our men and women in uniform. He is unqualified and unfit to be commander-in-chief."

Mr. Gates served eight presidents over 50 years, most recently as secretary of defense under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Long list of Republicans think Trump is unfit for office - an unprecedented amount.

Trump being Trump, decides he can't take criticism and lashes out like a three year old.

Recall that we are talking about this public servant: Mr. Gates served eight presidents over 50 years, most recently as secretary of defense under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Trump:

"We had a clown today, an absolute clown. Robert Gates — he’s supposed to be an expert; he’s been there forever," Trump said.

"Never met the guy, never saw him. I saw him on television, didn’t like him. The end result is look where we are. He’s a mess, OK? He’s a mess, so he goes out and he says negative things about me. I never met him; I never talked to him. Believe me, I am so much better at what he’s doing than he is, you won’t even believe it."

"He’s a nasty guy. Probably has a problem that we don’t know about," he said.

Correctomundo, oh small fingered one - I do NOT believe it.

Foreign leaders are studying every tweet from this fool and will OWN him when it comes time to do so. All they have to do is bait him with a tweet or an op-ed.

Gates is correct- Trump is proudly anti-knowledge, and makey decisions on a whim.

More frightening is Trumps kids, especially the one who keeps reposting filth off the alternative right white supremacist sites.

Kudos to those who saw Trump for what he is andoing spoke out before it was easy to do so. Now, with the polls showing his loss a virtual certainty, it's easy for the spineless to attack Trump. Looking at you: Cruz Ryan etc..

One can only hope that this circus will end with the election of Johnson and Weld, two former governors with proven track records. And, they might even tap Gates for Defense Secretary.

Jack Hickey -- "One can only hope that this circus will end with the election of Johnson and Weld, two former governors with proven track records."

Really, Hickey? Really? Weld has ditched Johnson to go against Trump. And as for Johnson...the dude is clueless. Maybe not a bad thing for a stoner, but not so good for someone who wants to assume the presidency.

Weld left this joke a week ago.

Really, Jack? They didn't tell you on Fox?

Trump claims 200 generals. Romney had 500.

Where's the 300?

15 current Republican senators say they're no longer supporting Trump. That ever happen before?

@dirty drive -- 15 senators not supporting their party's nominee may be a new one.

But as for Trump's claim that he has the support of 200 generals -- I wonder if he meant that he has the support of 200 *Russian* generals...

Well, all the women coming forward and verifying Trump's claims of sexual depravity have taken all the news about Republicans un-endorsing Trump off the front page.

Just today, the most conservative college students in the nation denounced Jerry Falwell, Jr:

“Any faculty or staff member at Liberty would be terminated for such comments, and yet when Donald Trump makes them, President Falwell rushes eagerly to his defense – taking the name ‘Liberty University” with him”

Trump's “actively promoting the very things that we as Christians ought to oppose”

“It is not enough to criticize these kinds of comments,” the students continued. “We must make clear to the world that while everyone is a sinner and everyone can be forgiven, a man who constantly and proudly speaks evil does not deserve our support for the nation’s highest office.”

There is hope for the Republican Party after all - out of the mouths of babes...

No Donald, a different kind of babe.
