Airplanes overhead? I have lived in University Heights for over forty years. Planes have been going over my house every day: Small single engine planes, helicopters, surveillance planes from Moffett, large and small jets bound for SFO and most anything else that can fly. Yes, Surf Air is new but get with it people, we do not live in eastern Oregon, we live in a bubble that is know as Silicon Valley. So we have to listen to Surf Air for maybe fifteen seconds at at a time. I'm sorry. Get used to it.

It never ceases to amaze me why people who have no problem with noise feel the need to comment on articles like this. If it doesn't bother you, that's great. No need to comment. However, for those of us that it DOES bother, it's a big deal. Whether or not there is noise doesn't affect you, so please don't chastise those who do have an issue with it. Why should you care? Just move along.

we understand it bothers you. It's just that those who are bothered are a tiny minority of people living here and yet are demanding that things be changed to satisfy them.

at menlovoter - thank you!
I am very tired at extremely entitled people who feel that they are the only one's who opinion matters. Sorry, it is a very small % of the population that complains about plane noise. At SFO 350k complaints came from the same 2k people. So not very representative. We all experience noise and we can ALL have opinions about it. I have airplanes over my house all the time as well. If outside I may look up and see what kind of plane it is, then I go about my day. What I do not do is incessantly complain that I do no live in bubble of silence. This is the 4th largest Metro Area in the country and we are situated between 2 int'l airports, 2 minor one's and Moffatt, and a Major Hospital that takes helicopters. All those airports and the hospital predate most of the houses in the area.
Honestly what did you people expect?
Thanks!

I don't see what the big deal is either.
I find some of the endless reader comment threads on this topic alternately tiresome and entertaining ... even hyperbolic at times.
We've always had airplane traffic overhead. I grew up in Menlo, but recall the at-times nearly constant Navy P3 Orion traffic over parts of Mountain View and Sunnyvale.
Life must be pretty good for those who have the time and energy to get themselves into a lather about airplanes passing overhead from time to time.

@ Adores. I'm with you! Just because there are people who think noise is acceptable, doesn't make them right. I wish they would educate themselves on the negative health impacts of noise--they are considerable and even if people think they don't notice the noise, it still is bad for one's health.
The Peninsula is plagued with airplane noise, not just from Surf Air, but from the FAA's absurd change of flight routes. And to those who say the airports were there there first--those route changes are new and the FAA's changes are causing complaints all along the new routes. But if the changes line some peoples pockets with money, that's considered progress by some. What heck if there are people who suffer from it.
No response is required to my comment--I've hear it all before, Menlo voter and all!

My guess is Surf Air won't be flying to many flights over the meeting location tonight,

Personally, I refuse to be subject to the tyranny of a minority of people. I don't
think anyone else should be subject to it either.

What possible motive could someone have to comment on this forum that noise is no big deal unless they are either a customer or investor of surf air?

I am neither a customer nor investor in Surfair. I am just tired of a small minority of self entitled people thinking the world should change because they want it to.
