Better reporting by other outlets points to "yes".

My condolences to his family - I'm very sorry for their loss. That said, the La Honda community is completely fed up with irresponsible recreational use of the lifeline to our town. Every weekend groups of motorcycles racing, car clubs racing, bicycles impeding traffic has resulted in more deaths this summer than I can ever remember. These roads weren't built for recreation, they were built to get people from point a to point b. Please, please, please stop using Highways 84 (and 35 and 1) as amateur race tracks for ANY kind of vehicle!
